When is my WiFi network not suitable for a Sense scent device?
Do you doubt whether your WiFi network is suitable for our scent devices? Good thing you're checking it! Your WiFi network is not suitable for a Sense scent device if it has a Captive Portal. This is a company page where you can get access to a (public) WiFi network. Hotels, airports and cafés are organisations that often use a Captive Portal. Before a guest can make use of their WiFi network, he or she is directed to the company page. Here you may be asked to accept certain conditions or to log in with your personal data.
Does your WiFi network have a Captive Portal? Then you can opt for a scent device that uses a GPRS network. In that case, your scent device has a built-in modem with a SIM card, which connects it to a 2G network. You pay some extra costs for your data usage, but you can then manage your scent device just as easily as via a Wi-Fi network!
I don’t have a (suitable) WiFi network. Can I still spread scent?
Yes, no problem! In this case, follow the steps below.
- Is there another WiFi network available that doesn’t use a Captive Portal? If so, you can easily connect your scent device to this WiFi network.
- If you manage the WiFi network yourself, you can (ask your network administrator to) remove the Captive Portal for our scent devices. To do this, you need the MAC addresses of your scent devices. You can ask us these by sending an email to support@sense-company.com.
- If there is no WiFi network available without Captive Portal, you can opt for a scent device that uses a GPRS network. In that case, your scent device has a built-in modem with a SIM card, which connects it to a 2G network. You pay some extra costs for your data usage, but you can then manage your scent device just as easily as via a WiFi network!
What is the difference between a WiFi scent device and a GPRS scent device?
A WiFi scent device can be connected to a suitable WiFi network. A GPRS scent device can’t. This device has a built-in modem with SIM card and connects to a 2G network. However, you will pay some additional costs for your data usage. If you have a suitable WiFi network at your disposal, a WiFi scent device is the best choice.
